Printing For Conventions ? Do you print for conventions? Got Any Ideas

We are an established company. We always had some work come our way when each convention would come to town. But our focus was on the high-end products selling locally. Concept, Design and Print projects that might require weeks to create.

Recently , after very positive feedback from these convention clients, we have decided to try and grab more of that market.
Our staff and team truly love working with these clients. They are grateful and appreciative for the hard work we do to make their show a success. Not to mention that the additional sales has added to our overall company growth.

We are currently only getting about 1%-5% of the business from each show. With each show having 1000 -150,000 clients.
We would like to increase this to 10% - 20% .

My question is :
What is your experience with this ....how did you reach these potential clients?
What advice can you offer ?
Anything you tried that DID or DID NOT work for you?

These clients are coming in from out of state and out of the country....
We found that cold calls wont work.
We do send out a convention newsletter...but that is hard...with the whole spam thing

Any ideas would be great :) Thanks

There is one that getting a space would work, as they are open year round, even when the convention leaves. It would be great to be the 'On-site" "go-to" printer. But I do need some more ideas for getting the business for the current convention, before next year.
We had a GREAT client today. Family of Arlo Davy Guthrie and Woody Guthrie, coming from a convention. The American folk singers. We made the client SUPER happy and they bought the whole shop Starbucks :) . Cant beat that !
Rent a small booth space at the convention to promote your wares.

If these conventions are all at one convention center, try to get in with the building's management. Or if many of the conventions go through the town's visitors' bureau, contact them. If packets are still mailed out, you could perhaps get a brochure in that.
