Process Color Substitution

We recently completed a process color job using Pantone Rhodamine Red instead of magenta. The Rhodamine was used to better match one of the spot colors that the client normally uses. In order to reproduce the photographs normally, we ran a press test with the Rhodamine and created a profile so we could correct the photos in advance so they we print normally.

The process worked well. Here is the question.

If we wanted to do this process with a different substitution, is there a way to create the profile without doing an actual press run ie. use some sort of mathematical process to predict the change?

To TigerPress,

I know it doesn't mean as much as a happy customer, but I just wanted to say BRAVO! Well done.

best, gordon p
