Quark text wrap in pdf error

Customer sends a pdf made from Quark. They use text wrap. In Acrobat/Pitstop I can select the fonts, but the lines of text that have been wrapped also have invisible outlines on them. The invisible outlines causes the file to error out at rip. (Harlequin 5.3r0) I can delete the outlines but is very tedious. Anyone know what causes this?
