Random Black Band- Xerox Versant 80

In a run of 2,000 sheets, three sheets came out with this black band across the sheet (edge to edge). The three affected sheets occurred randomly toward the middle of the run, a couple hundred sheets apart and not the same place on the page. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the cause...random drum or developer issue...processing/imaging issue?

Drum failing. Put a new black drum in.

Assuming you are running short edge feed. If not, this is something else.

Yes, it was short edge feed with the bottom of the page being the lead edge. I think the drum still shows 50% or so. But, I'll give that a try.

Pretty sure it's the drum.

This is caused by a short circuit in the drum due to excess toner in the tray where the drums are placed. Replacing the drum may fix the problem, but if there is still excess toner, the issue will recur.

It's best to clean the drum tray every so often.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have a couple of new drums and a couple of developers laying here that I need to install. I'm hoping that cleaning things up and replacing those couple of parts will resolve the issue.
