Save as PDF from Illustrator

I am trying to save as a PDF from Illustrator and want to include the slug which is outside the art board. I can create a second art board but the PDF file saves as 2 pages. I need the slug to be on the same page as the artwork. Saving as EPS does this, but I need a one step solution using PDF. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

Or, make your bleed area 1" (which I think is the max) and if your slug info will fit within the bleed area, you can save a pdf with bleed settings of 1" and include marks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying to cut out steps. Making the art board large and then adding crops would not go over well with the artist's. We have Dalim Twist and it will not take AI files. So I was experimenting with saving the AI files as PDF with AI compatibility. Then they could just drop the AI/PDF file directly into Twist. Some of the file sizes can be over a gig. So it takes a while to save in a different format. The slug contains lots of info and is fairly large. If I could just mimic the way is saves as an EPS which contains art and slug on the same page.

Hey Jeff with CS4 and up you create ne document and you can set your bleed area then save as pdf and go to the marks and bleeds and check them all on and include document bleed see attached PDF

Hi guys, its possible in CS4 / CS5 to have artbords within other artboards, for instance I use artbord 1 for the actual artwork (complete with bleed) and I draw artboard 2 around artboard 1 and use it for slugs and other non printing objects. The advantage is that I can save to pdf or print just the artwork minus the slug, or the artwork with the slug as need arises. I have attached a jpg screenshot (I hope it has loaded) to demonstrate the two artboards of one document. Let me know if it works.

When you save to PDF etc, you select the appropriate artboard(s). In the attached demo I choose to export artboard 1-1 ( choosing to export 1-2 will give me 2 PDF pages).
