Scanning on Versant 280

Feeling a little dense this morning. I've been using this Xerox Versant 280 with Fiery Command Workstation for the last 5 months and am well versed at preparing documents for output but I'll be darned if I can access the files created by the built in scanner. I don't think this scanner is very good and am planning to get a much better one but for now I just need to scan a few things. I'm on a Mac/OS 13 using Fiery Command Workstation. In 25 years of print and design I've never had this much trouble scanning something. The Fiery software apparently doesn't have scan settings and the EFI and Xerox documentation is no help. . Go figure.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t do much scanning but when I do it works well. I use the network scanning option from the console. You’ll have all kinds of scanning options using network scanning. Once you scan and save your document then you go to the Fiery remote scan icon on your desktop and save the scan to anywhere you want. If you don’t have Fiery remote scan installed then you should install it.

Fiery remote scan was always something that specialists installed when installing the Versants but I’ve added too. I'm sure there are other ways to scan but this is all I know about it since I don't scan too much. I don't email scans so I never had that setup.

Thanks, I'll try accessing the Remote Scan app on the PC the Fiery server is located on. I didn't see a Remote Scan app when I looked but I may have overlooked it. I'm pretty sure, for now, that the Remote Scan app isn't compatible with the new Mac I'm on.

If you don't see a usb slot on the front of the machine, pry off a little door on the front of the machine, should be a usb slot there. Plug in a usb drive, then choose scan on the display of the machine and you can save it to the Usb. No networking, fiery, or software required.

We use Scan to PC on the V80, on the left there is "Address Book" in this you can set a network location where the file will be saved. It'll remember it and you just need to select it each time your scanning. Handy if multiple people use the scanner and want to save direct to their own computers.

Thanks for the help. I found an way way to access the files by simply dropping the Fiery server IP address in a browser window to access the scans folder.
