Scitex vs. Acuity

I'd be really interested to hear from any users. We're considering both machines as well as a Screen TruePress 2500. The manufacturer's samples all look fine, but we created our own sample sheet and are having them produced. You'll notice none of them print samples with con tones.

The gloss banding on the acuity was REALLY bad in the con tones. It was bad at the lowest quality on the Screen, but otherwise not much of an issue. Still haven't seen samples from the HP boys yet. For the record, photos look great off both the acuity and screen.

Anybody else know more than my limited experience?

You should not only rely on print samples. Both machines can print very good quality in high resolution mode, but speed is very much different! Have a look at the specs.

FB-700 uses a belt drive mechanism for media transport, Acuity is a true flatbed printer, therefore its much easier to work with different media sizes because you don´t have to mask the whole belt to get a proper vakkuum. On Acuity one can define 3 vakuum zones. Ink placement is definetly more precise with a flatbed construction.

FB-700 seems to be an attrative offer if you don´t have to care about productivity.
Acuity has proven its built quality with 2.500 installations worldwide.
