Seasonal Magic

Many of things I post are not my original creative, (I make sure to acknowledge that when I post it), but, thought it would be interesting for the other readers. This one is different. Other than the beginning of the opening line, the rest is all mine. For those who can associate (working by yourself at the office alone at night), I hope this puts a smile on your face, and, helps get you in the Christmas Spirit. Feel free to re-post to other sites, or, even add your own verses. What do YOU want for Christmas?

‘Twas the night before Christmas, I’m still down here at the shop
Re-working the designer’s art, she wants it to really “pop”
The office decorations remind me I should be at home
Having a coffee with Baily’s, with lots of whipped-cream foam

The printers are all quiet, not a machine making a sound,
I’m the only one here, not another soul around
Should I tweak the color, the contrast, background or hue?
Or, trash this whole concept, and start anew?

It was during this quandry, I heard a sound, like something falling on the floor
So, I got up from my desk, and opened my office door
Looked up and down the hall, and nothing I did see
So, I went back to my task, although, now, being somewhat jittery.

About a half hour later, I heard another sound.
So, I thought I’d better get up and take a closer look around
I went down the hall, to the digital print room
I started to feel eerie, the feeling of impending doom.

Nothing in the laser print room, but, big, quiet machines
All decked out with Christmas lights, and snow-man figurines.
Pallets of paper stock, staged for production
Topped off with job jackets, complete with the print instruction

The bindery, warehouse, office and break-room were also clear
I must have spent a half hour investigating, I guess there’s no need to fear.
Heading back to my office, to finish my work
Probably need to call it a night, I think I’m starting to go bizerk.

Upon entering my office, a sight stopped me dead in my tracks
No BS, I’m just telling you the facts
Draped across my keyboard, was the most beautiful Hi-Res PDF
Of the project I was working on, WTF?

I grabbed the paper, and, then started to call the cops
But then, as I looked at it, I realized, it pops, it really pops!
The job was finished, so professionally and quick,
Could this be the work of an Elf, or, maybe even, “Saint Nick”?

I also noticed a gift-wrapped present had been placed in my chair,
Don’t know where it came from, should I open it? Do I dare?
Oh, why not? Doesn’t seem ominous, I’ll open it, just for kicks.
To my delight and surprise, it’s a new copy of CS6!!! (hey, we’re still on 5.5)

Now, say what you will about Santa, his elves, or, the magic of Christmas Eve,
But, as for me, I can tell you, honestly and from the heart, I BELIEVE!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!

So I log off my workstation, lock the shop and brave the cold
To return to yuletide festivities and the family fold

I join the family at the table as we prepare carve the ham from the bone only to find 3 missed calls on my phone
who could this be and what could be the matter, I hope not bad news…maybe a wrong number…….I pray for the latter.

I call the message service with trepidation, hoping to find belated seasons greeting from a distant relation
Its the client in relation to the advert that needs to pop he requires me to return forthwith to the shop!
There is a mistake in the text that has him vexed , I should have noticed the error that makes this pop go sour, so he will need to see a new proof within the hour…."

Thanks, I really enjoyed that! I hate to do this but there is a typo. The word 'quiet' on the first line, second paragraph. (Good thing I caught it before it went to press) ;)
