Syntec vs Bottcher

We have a GTO 52 4-color that doesn't get a whole lot of use, around 25k sheets per month. We have always used Bottcher rollers. We also have always ended up keeping the sets for around 4-5 years before replacing them.

We are due for rollers and Syntac has some cheap prices on their rollers and I am wondering if they would be a wise investment. Thinking that because of the price we could replace them more often.

So is it better to have newer cheap rollers or older high end ones?

that depends on who is writing the checks!!! As much as i like bottcher rollers id be hard pressed to justify the significantly higher price if it were my money that was being spent. For me i would need to see close to double the mileage to justify almost double the cost of most all other rollers. The company i currently work for buys bottcher rollers and that makes me a very happy camper being the person running the press but if it were my money Id probably opt for something less expensive and change them more often.
When i was in the position of being responsible for the bottom line of the pressroom i chose a more affordable alternative.
