Update of CTP Agfa Palladio

Hello,
I am a user of Agfa ctp Palladio with Lithostar LAP-V plates.

Recently I have been offered an update of my equipment that would change my processor machine to a VCF-85 in order to use a chemistry free plate. However, I have not been told which plate/s I will be able to use.

I would like to know which plate I have to use if I make this change. And if I would have the option of buying any other brand such us Kodak, Fuji or whatever.

For commercial - Azura V, but it needs pre-heat.

With VCF-85 you'll be stuck down to AGFA as you are now with LAP-V

Both types need >30mW violet laser CTP. What about your Palladio?

So what they have offered has no advantage for me. It makes no sense to pay for something that does not take me out from a monopolistic supply.

Sure you do, Use VPP processor (for Palladio) instead of Lp-82 Lithostar LAP-V processor and get your Photo Polymer Chemistry based plates from any supplier you like. Please open the Link. I believe it is too early to use Process less plates. You will get hooked to the suppliers.

Our Palladio has 15mW violet laser, so it is not compatible for processor-less plates, or photopolymer plates. We ended up pulling the Palladio system out and installed Kodak Trendsetter with Thermal Direct plates which are processor-less.

You mean your Palladio was 5mw, you didn't go for $13000 used 30mw Laser on it and you didn't invest on a $10000 processor and ended up pulling palladio system out and installed(invested) on a Kodak Trendsetter. This is all beside the cost of Installation, removing etc,etc,etc. This is what you did. Am I right? Hope you sold your Palladio for a good price.

Vlad explained this in detail. The VPP processor is the one used for commercial purposes with pre-heat capability. You can use different Photopolymer plates from different suppliers. For your Palladio, you will need VPP-68 Online + you will need to upgrade your Laser to 30mw(If it is still 5mW). Some people in manufacturing told me once the Laser is in fact 60mW and not 30mW, but in real life because of the Palladio 30 brand we all think and believe the Laser is 30 mW. For Violet Photopolymer Plates, there are many suppliers. Just search in the Internet.Pick the right supplier and enjoy the cost and the quality of the pales without being hooked to a single supplier.

The problem is agfa does not want to change it because the agfa reseller in Chile (south america) does not sell these plates and are not interested in them. Can anybody give me a good advice on how to proceed or where to get a compatible processor without going to agfa?
I'll use this post to also ask, ¿can anybody advice me on a good plates supplier? In chile i get the lithostar lap-v plates for 11 usd or so.

you can upgrade your Agfa Palladio. I know 4 used polymer processors compatible with your Palladio in Canada and US. Unlike Silver halide Plates,There are many suppliers of Polymer Plates and Thermal Plates in the market.

They all are Kodak PT-85 (Glunz & Jensen Interplater 85). In Excellent conditions.

The plates run length is 5000 and the plate is inconsistent.It is OK for low quality jobs. The Polymer and Thermal Plates have many suppliers worldwide. Which one are you interested on. Do you have an import Permit? Buy some samples from them and test them if they are OK, then go for Volume. Have tried Kodak? Who is the supplier of Kodak in your country? I do not know what type of Print work you are involved with, I belive internet is a good source of research for finding potential suppliers. As far as I understand, you are considering 2 options:
1- To have a supplier for your Silver halide Plates.
2- Because of the high price of Plates, you are considering to upgrad your Palladio or Adding a Polymer processor to an existing Palladio with 30 MW Laser(60mW)

The second option is feasible. You will need to move to Polymer Plates soon or latter with your existing equipment. If you think we buy the Plates less than what you pay for your Plates, you are mistaking. You can't find any suppliers(Fuji, Kodak, Agfa) in North America to provide you with cheaper than what available in your Market.

I am a supplier of Equipment and not the Plates or consumables. In North America, we work with Kodak, Agfa and Fuji and Pay much higher than what you Pay in Chile.
