UV coated cardboard cracks

Hello everyone,

i have a problem, with printing uv varnish inline on cardboard (GC2), there appears a problem few hours after printing, surface when folding or diecutting starts cracking sometime it seems that just varnish comes off, sometimes you can see inks, varnish and cardboard chalk layer, what could influence this problem? (pic attached)

Try changing the board substrate to another supplier/ brand if you have that flexibility. Also, if you can go to a lighter weight card board this will logically help. Try these first, if no relief or possibilty as suggested we can difg into further. This ca be a very nagiing problem and following certain procedural steps will eventually provide a compromising remedy. D

Does the cracking happens where you crease the board?

Are you scoring/cutting from the front or the back of the piece?
