White line around orange solid against gray background on iGen 4 with Creo RIP

Running a Xerox iGen 4 with a Creo rip. We have a client constantly bouncing proofs and printing elsewhere because of an issue we can't seem to solve. They build elements, such as a chart in Illustrator, CMYK file, they make a 10% black screen, and then place an orange rectangle on top of it, which is a cmyk build to make a light orange. When we print, the orange will not trap to the gray screen. which leaves what looks like a white stroke around the orange. You can turn on trapping and it does nothing, regardless of the width used. I am trying to attach a screenshot of how the file looks on screen, the orange and gray screen should meet, but picture it printing with a white stroke between the 2. Please let me know what other info I can provide to see if anyone has ideas.

Perhaps GCR could help. Convert from the assigned/assumed source profile to a printer profile that uses a higher GCR component in the separation. There may not be much or any K added to the orange, however the K only objects would now contain a level of CMY. Enough CMY to add a common colour between the two elements, but not enough to affect grey balance. When performed correctly, the higher GCR file should visually look the same as the standard method, except that the two objects will hopefully not have a white line.

try changing screen angles or goto stochastic, may affect other elements adversely, so be sure to check. Don't think "noise" will help, but give it a crack.
 
Hi bgardner,

Firstly, ensure the halftone pattern you are using is NOT system specified.
Set the job to run using 200dot.
If leaving it up to the system, vector objects will render as line screen and solids as dot.
Force the RIP to raster all objects at 200 or 300 dot.
