Xerox 700 Custom ICC

I have just received my Xerox 700 (used) I was looking for someone to give me the correct steps in printing a untagged color target and the steps to go through with the calibration. I have been in prepress 20 years, so I am familiar with creating my own custom ICC profiles. I just need to send an raw target through the printer with color management off.

Anyone who can help would be great.

With freeflow you have too choose The MK70 profile as input and output. Then you wont get any conversion. Would be easier if there were an "do not colormanage" button. :)

I am using the Fiery EX700. After reading the manuals I still dont get it. When creating a calibration it asks to apply it to a profile, but this seams to be backwards. I would think I would create a calibration, run the patches with no profile, measure the patches, create a profile?

I work for a Xerox agency, and this question has been posed to us a couple of times(from traditionally trained litho/offset people who are adding digital to their mix).

Here is a great little thread from the EFI forum that I have referred them to in the past:
Creating and using a Color Profile with my Fiery/Copier - EFI Fiery Forums

I would suggest anyone runnning EFI/Fiery front ends to take a look at that forum- it has been a great resource to us and many of our customers, just as this forum has been so beneficial to all of us in the printing arena.

I hope this will help you out some.

Hi, thanks for the reply but all that says is when you use "Color Profiler Suite" all color management is turned off. Thats fine if I had "Color Profiler Suite" but if I was trying to make a custom profile with Profilemaker it doesnt tell me how to make sure I am printing my target with no color management.

You didn't mention you were trying to do it through Profilemaker until now, so the assumption was that you were calibrating through Colorwise(which is the color management program used by the Fiery).

You can still send your own patches over with no color management(very easy if you have Command Workstation 5 installed on your client machine). Just go into the color tab and turn everything off.

I just downloaded version 5 and there is no way to turn everything off, you basically have to choose an output profile.

Hi,
To turn off color management: uncheck or disable the SIMULATION profile. You still have to select an output profile but it will not apply any color conversion to your profiling target.

Once your profile is built, replace the existing output profile with your new one.
Then, turn on the desired SIMULATION profile.

Voilà!

Let me know if this solve your problem.
