Xerox entry level printer

Hi guys i'm looking to get my own digital printer for small runs of flyers, leaflets ect, i currently outsource my printing jobs but like the idea of being able to do small runs myself. anything over 1000 flyers i would continue to outsource. I have a friend who has put my in touch with a xerox engineer, who has recommended i take a used xerox 242/250/260 on a pay per print deal from him and he will fully maintain the machine. I know these printers are a little old but can they still print to a good standard, my main clients are local businesses and i'd say they are not to fussy but i'd still like to maintain a good standard. Any advice would be great as i'm new to this side of printing, i normally work with solvent ink machines.

That would probably be a good entry machine into the digital world. You will find as you go on what you want and do not want from a digital machine. When you say pay per print, is that a click charge? If you have a service plan with Xerox you pay per colour click or black click. Your friend is doing this independently? We have a 260 that is no longer being serviced, we replaced it with a J75, and it is deteriorating fast. I have it set up for office printing, emails, invoices, cheques, etc.

Hi sorry yes a click charge, i think its 0.59p per sra3. He will independently maintain the machine via his company as they has access to xerox parts.

That seems very expensive. I do not remember the exact price we paid per click, but it was around 1 cent (CDN) per black click, and 8 - 12 cents (CDN) per colour. This price was for any colour or black click, be it 8.5 x 11 or 13x19. Coverage did not matter, nor did sheet size.
