Konica Minolta C7090 or C7100 with KM controller

Does anyone have the new C7090/C7100 with the KM controller?

We had one installed last month and KM can't get the normal job list menu to show up on the machine screen. Wondering if you went through the same issue and how they fixed it. Unfortunately we're the first in our area with a KM controller so the techs are a bit stumped. We were surprised to find out the new KM controller was not embedded like previous models. It's a completely separate computer tower now, (which they attach to the back of the machine for asthetics) it has a separate IP address and connects more like a Fiery. We have the KM controller on our C6085 and three 6136's and love it for our workflow - just need this one to work the same!

The IC-609 controller on our C4080 is the same.
Will be interested to know how it RIPs, as we still haven't overcome the issue of every page being ripped individually, i.e. a run of 200 sets of 10 pages will RIP 2,000 pages and drip feed from the IC-609, so the job will always report something like 15 pages remaining and won't calculate the remaining run time, as opposed to reporting for example "700 pages / 13 minutes remaining"

When you click on the "CNTL" button at the top of the machine panel, do you just get a blank screen? Did your techs tell you that's just how it is? I don't recall if you also own a C20xx or C30xx series machine with KM controller so you can see how it's supposed to operate.

We were told the "CNTL" menue is where the AccurioPro print manager or job list would show up from the controller. And the "Job List" button is now only used for jobs stored from the document scanner (which we don't have), so it's useless.

As for the RIP'ing issue you're describing, we haven't ran enough jobs to experience that yet. We're favoring our C6085 simply due to the interface while KM figures out the C7090.

We have just the C4080 and Pro951. We had exactly this situation for the first month, until our dealer returned with someone from KM who rectified it with a firmware upgrade and changed some other settings, which also co-ordinated the power off routine properly (until this was done, I had to go round the back and power down the IC-609 manually every night.

@jwheeler I spoke to our engineer today, who was onsite on the day KM came in to get our C4080 controller working.
He confirmed:
  • The firmware as delivered was recent but not the latest version, which was apparently based on some bugs found on the C14000. Ours was the first C4080 to land in the UK.
  • As delivered, the KM controller could not be viewed on the machine, as you've described, however it could be viewed and operated from a web browser using AccurioPro Print Manager.
  • Once the firmware was updated, the controller was visible on the printer console. As an aside, the latency isn't great using the console and the way the copy quantity field functions is rather dumb, needing to be backspaced and over-keyed. I find it easier to use a PC a few metres away.
Hope this helps. Keep an eye on that dip switch 59 issue we had too, with B/W clicking as CMYK!

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the tech already tried updating the firmware. I'm starting to think we have a bad controller because it keeps dropping off the network. Even when the specialist connects their computer directly to it, bypassing the network, it is inconsistent. We've had it for weeks and have barely used it. Luckily we have our C6085 that's working like a champ.

I wanted to update this post with the outcome. Turns out the controller was bad. They swapped it out and problem solved. We now like this interface better than our older C6085 since it's accessing the full job manager, not a dumbed-down job editor.

Hello, I read above about the problem with the rip

Did you find any sollution about this? Me and my tech spent a lot of hour searching but without any sollution. The bigest problem is not the time remaining but that slows the printing cause memory draining.

@jim_papa How are you sending the file to the printer? Do you import/drop it into the AccurioPro Print Manager, or do you print with the PS print driver? I ask because we regularly print 200+ page training manuals and never have this issue. We always send from the print driver because we need to include divider tabs. We usually set it to "HOLD" under the "Workflow" tab, then send the amount of prints we need from AccurioPro Print Manager.

I'm sending one set from PC (Acrobat - printer driver) with print - hold and all the others from CNTL. If the set has a lot of pages this happens. It is like it ripping all the sets and not only the first one and then just printing copies (without ripping)

I just looked at the settings within our controller and there's only one thing that caught my attention that would be worth checking on yours. On the printer touch screen, press the "Controller" button at the bottom. Then select "06 Spool Print Jobs in HDD before RIP". Our machine is set to "Disable".
