    movement during run

i will check them again tomorrow and this time also check for infeed bite as for the sheets, i will most definitely do that the next time it happens. i think the manager and other operator think i'm out of it since neither of them have seen it happen in real time (only the couple of sheets i saved)

    Make Ready Time

jeeze, i wish we could get ours that short. but then again, most of our runs are much more than 1000 sheets. only our pm46 and qm46 can get that many out in a single shift. also, it sounds like i'm the only one on here who is running a roland while the rest of you guys are on heidies

    Make Ready Time

i'm on a roland 300 5 colour. i dont have the luxury of preset ink keys or any kind of automated closed-loop ink control. however we do have remote ink and running register with plate cocking and semi-auto plate changes. i have to set ink keys manually and use a densitometer (lots of times, i...

    ink/water balance

this is the method i usually use. ar17, like said already, if you have good balance the best visual is a small (about 1mm) band of ink at the bend at the gripper edge of the plate that is even all the way across.

    Make Ready Time

i can usually get up and running in about 15-20 mins. not impressive by any means but i like to take my time and make sure colours are matching the proofs very well and register is nice and tight.

    movement during run

yeah i was originally thinking it was the impression cylinder grippers but i found nothing wrong there. i never thought to check the perfector. i'll have to check that first thing tomorrow.

spray powder - which do you use?

i may have to see about getting some shipped to me. i really want to try a smaller powder because i think it would help with alot of our spray powder issues. guess i will see what man roland recommends in this press.

    movement during run

ok, so doubling it is. for some reason i was under the impression that it was slur. all these years ive had my terminology wrong, that's embarrassing lol. anyway, i checked and re-checked all my grippers, cam followers and such from the infeed back to the transfer cylinder after the...

    movement during run

the sheet transfer is: imp cyl single transfer double transfer single transfer imp cyl i do see this when running black only but only at the higher speeds. if it were a transfer shouldn't i see more movement in the sheets in general or in the other colours? aside from the black moving, the...

    movement during run

heres some closeup pics of the colour bar. first shot is at 10K the second at 11K the third at 12.5k and the fourth at 14k sph. (please ignore the scuffing on the first shot, i rolled the sheet up a little too soon after i pulled it from press)

    movement during run

there are 5 printing units and a coating unit. we print as follows: unit 1: open unit 2: black unit 3: cyan unit 4: magenta unit 5: yellow theres a perfecter after unit 2. the movement is up and down. it shows up as figure 8's in the star targets but since the registration marks are out at...

    movement during run

ive been having some issues lately with movement during the course of a run on my roland 300. it seems that the higher the press speed, the more movement i get. problem is, it's only in one unit. (the unit we use for black) at speeds up to and including 10,000 sph, things print normally. i...

spray powder - which do you use?

yeah i'm willing to try just about anything at this point, if we can get it in north america. (i'm in canada, but can get stuff shipped up from the U.S. pretty easily) is that stuff paultheprinter, i'm a little concerned about moving down to a 15 micron powder as we are currently using 27...

spray powder - which do you use?

currently using varn r-27 on a 23x29 press. having issues with excessive buildup on impression cylinders and in the delivery. also not able to run stacks as high as i used to. i know they are having issues lately with that particular powder, so my questions: 1: which powder are you using? 2...

    what blankets are you using

i'm glad to see it is just a packing issue. you will see a big difference with packing change to proper height. on a side note, i just want to be clear that i wasn't implying that you don't do good work without a packing guage. however, no conductivity/ph meter or densitometer is another story...

best way to re-sensitize chrome dampening roller?

i ordered some 100% gum Arabic and it came in yesterday. we are going to pull one of the ceramics and try your method. which kind of paint stripper? something like varsol? i'm unsure and don't want to damage anything. as for the technotrans, i pulled the spring loaded ball valves out and sure...

slow dry times - ink or fountain solution?

i was thinking that same thing, but wasnt sure if it was leading to over emulsification. we used the rapida 1765 and it wasnt bad at all
