Make sure you get the right digital printer/press. Once you sign a long term deal, it's too late to go back. Do your research on this forum and online and get yourself a decent machine.

What's the ballpark price range for the 950? How much is the monthly lease cost and click charge? I have been looking at this machine as well but have not contacted my KM rep yet.

Try Sappi or Sterling. They have a very nice gloss coated paper for offset and digital. I'm not sure if they carry this in the UK though. If you are running digital, I really like Mohawk. They make a great gloss coated stock.

Vlad, I'm still running a Accuset 1000. I only run film out of it right now. How does the "polyestep plate material AGFA SetPrint or Mitsubishi SilverPlate" process work? Can you or anyone else elaborate?

$6-10k is definitely more than what I'd like to spend. It would be hard to switch from my current service to PrintSmith for that price. I'm also assuming that there's some kind of yearly maintenance that I would have to purchase.

Try cleaning the coronas. I had a similar issue and it may just take a blow on the coronas or clean the corona wire. My tech eventually printed solid sheets of each color (CMYK) to see which corona it was and he swapped it out.

The chart adjustment process is a fairly tedious process on the 6501. To get the most accurate settings, you have to adjust each paper stock that you use. Adjustments for a 20# bond stock will be different than a 80# cover stock. It can take a few hours if you try to register over 10...

Are you referring to the "Tray Alignment" check box in the Media tab in the driver settings? Yes, I check that when I run duplex. It does not seem to make a difference.
