4-Part NCR, last page only is 2-sided

Good morning! New here but have been reading and learning!

I am having issues with an NCR job.
Printer: Konica 4080, with Fiery
Stock: 4 part, reverse pre-collated NCR
Parts 1-3 are single-sided, front side only
Part 4 is two-sided.
File: pages 1-4 are replicas of the form image, page 5 is instructions for the back of Part 4.

I have the document settings to "Off" for Duplex Mode.
Under Media>Mixed Media, I have pages 1-3 set to document settings. And page range 4-5 set to Duplex Right-Left.

It looks to be printing correctly - however, Part 4 is being flipped such that it comes out with the form on the front, instructions on the back as it should, BUT the paper is actually upside-down so transfer will not work onto the form. If I turn the sheet over so the instructions are up, transfer works.

How can I get it to print page 4 on the top side of the NCR paper and page 5 on the back?

maybe print page four separately and then use "Mixed Media" to insert it as a "blank" from a different tray?

if it's a four part form, then the "fronts" for all four parts are identical, yeah? Can you get away with printing the instructions on the back of every sheet?

I think your primary goal is to have the machine flip page four one more time? I've never tried that?

Maybe other method, tho adds click charges is to have insert blanks into the document for the back of pages 1-3 and run the whole thing as duplex?

I think that is a great idea, but we don't have any not-pre-collated stock. I have a feeling we are going to have to go that route though. Thank you!

when she wasn't in the office, I'd just run the job as all duplex with three blanks.

Oof! That would be painful! We may end up doing that this time around but I'll be crossing my fingers we don't have to make it a habit!

i haven't done NCR in a few years, but I'm guessing I would reverse the page order* and flip the paper?

(i don't have any to experiment with, so I'm just trying to visualize)

We run lots of 2-sided NCR on our KM's. When running 2-sided jobs, all sheets need to print duplex to maintain the correct sides of the sheet facing the correct NCR surface coatings. You need to make it into an 8pg document with 3 blanks pages for the 3 blank backsides. Make sure you don't have any settings turned on to ignore blank pages. For 2-sided NCR, we have to use straight-sequence paper and run out of one of the side vacuum drawers (you can't use the drawers under the engine because that will require them to flip). Load the paper with the white sheet on top. In the Fiery or print driver, select "Face down" for the output.

Place the paper in a different tray. Hopefully there are trays below the print engine, and I am assuming that you are feeding from trays that are besides the print engine. What happens when you print from these two different style of trays, is that the paper is flipped before it hits the print engine, which is crucial for 2, 3 and 4 part reverse paper that is pre-collated, when printing two sided. We can't print 2-sided NCR from Tray 6 or Tray 7 on our Versant 180s, without any funky business. If we load the NCR in Tray 3, that allows us to print and load the paper as it comes out of the ream, and to select sensible printing options from the Fiery. That is, we select 2-sided and output face-up, collated.

I really appreciate your answering! I did not have any idea on the trays handlign the paper differently - I am learning so much! Will talk to our Production Manager on the choice to either run pre-collated as all double-sided, or getting separate stocks. Thank you!

I don't think we get charged for blank sides. It's quite easy to check...just note the click counts on your meter, then run a sample and note the difference.
