Ok miki, so I understand it's only when you put two pages on a flat the carriage jams. Have you tried to looks inside the imagesetter ? Shut down the machine then open the right hand door, take out the drum cover (black, 4 latches), get a portable light and check for film caught inside or debris. If drum is clear stretch your arm inside the drum and pick up the traverse system and pull it to the maximum right side, should be a perfectly smooth movement. Come back with results.
As Vlad says lubrication is not needed but most times I put a drop of good quality oil on each of the bearing rails every half year to keep them corrosion free, I use maccurat 32 or similar quality thin oil. If you want, you can clean these two carriage bearings with isopropyl passing the carriage left to right repeatedly, then allow to evaporate at least one hour and lubricate. Remember just one tiny drop is enough as too much oil will sip through the ends/capilarity and tends to attract dirt.can be the traverse lubricated
