Avantra 30 Cutter Jam Error 30

I keep getting the above error even though the cutter cuts and performs its complete cycle coming back to home, it started as an intermitent fault and manually cutting through the utilities would then send the film through the bridge, the number of manual cuts required to send the film gradually increased untill it now will not feed any more film. I have replaced the cutter switch with a new unit and confirmed it is interupting the circuit when the cutter is operated. There is no film stuck in the cutter and it moves through its cycle normally. Any hints?

The cutter motor is on its way out, it's a brushed DC if I remember correctly.
Thanks for the reply, I made an error in the title, it is a 03 error code
Can the motor be repaired or is replacement the only option? How do I remove it for repair or replacement?

Сutter motor has never been heavy loaded during film imaging like film advance motors. I DO NOT believe that's a motor problem.
Have you ever meet a kind of "double cut cycle" when push a "manual cut" icon on OCP? If YES - home position switch lost its proper position.
Error 03 tells - Cutter Jam, that means no signal from a cutter home switch after cut. So, after the cut cycle that switch leg is not pressed up-to the end.

Yes, I have had to "manual cut" on the OCP to make the film advance, now it will not advance regardless of how many manual cuts I do. When the cutter is in the home position should the switch be open or closed circuit?

Good question! :)
I've never paid attention on that connections. I use AvDiag service program to check all sensors and look at ON/OFF status but not at OPEN/CLOSE state of sensors.
You did not quite understood my Question about "double cut" - I mean you press an icon "Manual cut-scissors" once but get the cut twice.
I think you have proper wiring of Cutter home switch because in other case you will get another error number - 8 or 185/186
There is another sensor inside the cutter assembly - reflective optocoupler, Media present sensor. If that sensor is unplugged or damaged, Avantra will not cut and advance the film because there is nothing to cut and feed in Avantra's "opinion".

abl567,

When the cutter is home the sensor is ON, that means the switch is closed. I would check that the cam is hitting the switch correctly. Also manually rotate the cutter and check for correct operation. If that all checks out, check for pinched wires. One other possible problem, maybe SDM bd.
