Avantra 44s Cutter not working.

Recently our AGFA 44s has been throwing us errors and no one knows how to fix it. If there is anyone on here still the help would be very much appreciated.

The cutter throws out errors 3, 8 and 44. The media is able to pass through the cutter and is also able to be retracted with no issues. Though when we try to cut the film, it gives the error for not enough media, we get more media past it but still no cut, we try to cut it manually but to no avail. We've gone inside the drum to look and see if there was possibly something blocking it but found nothing. It seems to cut fine when the white button on the Nip Drive is pushed but not when let go. Normally this would be our source of the issue but this AGFA has been running for years without something pushing that button. It was working fine until this morning where it simply would not cut unless button is pushed.

Maintenance has a manual for me to look at but i fear it is for the wrong Imagesetter because I just could not find anything. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Do you have service cable and avdiag software?
Possible reasons could be faulty SDM, cutter motor, photocell and so on.
First remove cutter assembly, check for film pieces might blocking photocell, wires eaten by mices ;) and so on.

Most likely the cutter switch.
If the miniature slide inside the switch is worn or dirty the electrical contact is not switching cleanly or fast enough

techno is correct. It's the cutter switch. I have taken the switch out and put a drop of epoxy on the end of the plastic lever to extend it after it had been worn down.
