Challenge 305 Cutter Home Position

We have a late model (roughly 1998) Challenge Champion 305 XD. We have noticed it struggling for a bit, and now the back gauge won't go back to home. Is this a part replacement? Adjustment? Possibly a sensor?

Hi sir:

Please test continuity for fuses x backgauge motor: F1+FL, see if are o.k , and clean contacts for corroded, or bad contacts, or loose , or blown.

There is a set screw in the very back of the cutter. It is the motor that moves the belt. Sometimes it backs off and the motor just spins. Take the housing off and observe it. It will make perfect sense if that is the problem.
