Color proofing (PRINT)

I got this logo, the colors are already assigned by them CMYK
however they are not picked from a pantone solid to process booklet so I can
not even locate them.

I am suppose to send this to the printers, I am sure when i get the print
the colors will be darker or blah, and I am sure the client will say oh......

How can I know what colors are going to press?

Also is there a way to color proof files like this that are send and setup by others?

Where`s the Logo?I don`t catch what you want to talking about?Does this Logo has a spot pantone color?

it is cmyk colors. no pantone.

Do you have any measure tool like spectrometer,you can define the LAB value of this logo color.

You could use a color Atlas as described here: Quality In Print: The Color Atlas - helping designers to specify color

and here: Quality In Print: Heidelberg's Color Atlas

The color will proof the same way you are currently proofing cmyk files.

How to simulate UV in a Digial Proof?

Hi,
I need some advice. Our client would like to see how the color looks after UV coating finishing in Digital proof form.

At present we offer them Digial Proof which is approved for press. If there is UV coating finishing then they will not be able to imagine how the color will turn out to be after sheetfed offset 4 Color printing and UV coating finishing.

We use PSO std for color management and our put Digital proofs with ISO Std. But not been able to simulate UV coating Finish.

I need some advice. Our client would like to see how the color looks after UV coating finishing in Digital proof form.

This is an interesting situation. The idea I have is probably impractical, but worth a try and will cost you nothing but some postage and a few emails (and some time)

We are testing the new EPSON WT7900 - which prints on Clear Plastic. I have no idea is your customer would think that reasonable or if that would make any sense whatsoever for you to consider that approach.

but - if you were interested, I would be happy to output a book cover for you and mail it to you.

It would be very helpful if you mailed me a digital proof of this same cover and a copy of the UV coated cover - and - if possible - a copy of the cover before it was coated.

Hi Sunil,
it might be hard to try and simulate UV coated colors. I don't think that there is a standard for that. Of course what you could do is profile your press with uv coated target and use a proofing paper which has as similar gloss as possible to the uv coated sheet.

Another possibility could be proofing with a well calibrated Canon C1+ which has a clear toner that gives a sort of coated impact on the printouts/proofs.
