Hi I know at the moment two equipment. The new Punch Graphic BasysPrint with new prices (lower prices) and the chinese CRON UVCTP. BasysPrint is flatbed and I dont know if they are still using Texas instrument glassies and Cron is like a normal Thermal CTP with a UV Laser.;)

Hi

CTP is not uses Ps plates

Its CTcP uses Ps plate i.e computer to conventional plate.
Quality of that image is not better than thermal technology bt is gud the violet technology.
Raw material cost is low compare to CTP.

Other CTcP machines

Other CTcP machines

There is another producer that makes machines that can work with PS plates, Luscher of Switzerland. They supply their standard machine with three options, violet, thermal or conventional plates. They install different lasers for each of the options. If you decide, latter on, you are not happy with the option you selected, they will change the laser and your machine will start working with other type of plates. For the pricing, you have to ask them. I heard their machines are reliable.

I believe your best choice is BASYS PRINT. We are a dealer here in California but can help you anywhere in the country with NEW or USED systems, We also offer the lowest priced UV plate anywhere. If you use a lot of plates then going UV CTP makes a lot of sense...

What size are you looking for? It's not as expensive as you might think. There is a lot of misunderstanding about CTcP...Basys offers the BEST in image quality over ANY CTP, due to the unique image head design. USED systems are priced the same as Thermal used CTPs...

Hi all,

Thank you for helpful info. I am still think the best option. If any one can offer one Used with the price. I would need 4 pages. Could me manual load, but it must me for PS plates.

Thank you again

Luscher is a good option

Luscher is a good option

we do provide service with a Luscher 230XP and it works fairly well. very few dificulties. price is similar to basys print. Diodes are changed as they go bad, giving u the choice of buying slowly. howeve if you want to change from UV to thermal price is high. every laser goes around $2000, make the math of 32, 64, 128 diodes to change at once.

Ivy, it depends on the Thermal CTP system....if you are talking about a Trendsetter or a newer Lotem or Magnum, yes the thermal laser is very expensive to change, over $20,000 USD rebuilt and $36,000 new from Kodak but with Screen, laser diodes can be changed as they go bad and cost only $1500 new....$700 used, you might change one once every year or two.

changing from UV to Thermal diodes

changing from UV to Thermal diodes

spectrum, Screens seems to be a good choise then. what i was referring is that if we make a completely change from burning UV plates to thermal plates the cost to change the diodes is pretty high.
por us the Luscher works great but if we are thinking in having a back up CTP, we may consider Screens.

Hi Terry,

It's interesting to hear a supporter for BasyPrint in the US. What about DMDs for the Generation 3 machines. I own a 57F, and Basys says that DMDs are no longer available, and will no longer support their machines. Before this, I was an enthusiastic support, but now, I feel like I have been had.

What is dealers perspective on this?

Thanks,

Mike
