Determining if a page is BW or Color

Hi,
I need a action to run on my Pitstop server that can determine if the page is BW or color.
I can't seem to find anything to to that unless there is away to check color space ect..

You can select objects that are NOT grayscale, then select images that are NOT grayscale and then log the selection. But that only gets you so far. Then there are ICC black, K of CMYK black, separation black, etc. Oh, and then RGB gray/black in images.

This only tells you if there is objects other than grayscale on the page. There are lots of exceptions that could be made grayscale that you will have to examine and make a determination for. But it should give a basic indication.

Matt, So there's no way to just set up an preflight or action that reports an error if theres information in any other channels then K? The way I do it now is using the "preview output" in Acrobat and turn of K-channel and flick through the entire PDF. (We use Pitstop 8 and Pitstop Server 08.)

Well, I didn't mean to imply that there is no way. Just that it can be very difficult to do reliably. In PitStop Pro 8 it might be possible to write an action but I'm on v10. Maybe it would work with v8. Are you interested in such an action? I suppose that I could try and write one.
