Difference between stand alone EFI Fiery and integrated

Need help to tell the difference between :

Stand alone EFI FIery RIP server (with no monitor - see attached pic) and

Integrated one (the one that's built in at the back of the machine)

Thanks

The one attached to the back of the machine runs a type of Linux I believe. We had that, and while it worked fairly well, it choked on complex variable data jobs, would sometimes need a reset, and while a good value, irritated me with it's lack of speed. Upgrading to the external versions, gives you a Windows based RIP, that in my experience, is rock solid stable, noticeably faster, and never seems to need a reset.
