Digital proofing

We are looking for ideas for proofing impositions and showing the customer accurate backed up and folded/finished proofs.

We currently use an Epson 10600 with VersoProof to proof our press impositions. For most jobs two of these are output, 1 is trimmed and finished for the customer as a "digital blueline" and the other is left flat in the job bag for internal QC. We also send a color accurate proof off our Epson 9880 as the "contract proof" but these are output single sided and loose trimmed since backing them up and folding them creates a mess of a proof for the customer to handle.

Does anyone have another process. How about a digital proof that actually works from the layout and finishing specs that can be sent to the customer for them to page through electronically?

Digital Proofing

If you are looking for imposition proofing, go to Flashlight Digital - Welcome and look at the ImpoProof and the PreProofer. These are 2 automated imposition proofers. One based on the Epson printer and one based on the Canon Printer. They are both software based systems, so you do not have the problems that are inherent in the devices that use a mechanical device to flip the paper upside down.

How many proofs do you make in a typical 8 hour shift?

If you want ease of use and automation, go with the Hyphen Impoproofer series. It may be a bit expensive but once you get one, you'll never go back. One way to ease the pain of the expense is to use a lower costing paper roll. Good luck!

If you are interested in the Page Flip technology (like Issuu) then I would love to talk with you about how we can help you connect this kind of proof (Lucid's FlipProof) with your impositions.
