Hi Guys,

I don't mean any harm in comparing these 2 machines, but unfortunately I now have to decide which one would be fit to our small printing business. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea, the only info I have is the technical specification.

We are basically a wedding invitation printer and we have some Epson L800s, but we mostly outsourced our prints to 3rd party digital printers (large printers like Indigo). But lately our business has started to pickup and we added brochure, calling cards and more printing types to our services. We have had experienced several problems with our 3rd party printers: long delivery time, additional shipping cost, error in production and more. So we decided to look for candidate high quality production digital machines that is not so expensive (like Indigold) and found the 2 models mentioned above.

Aside from the technical specifications, can I ask for real world experiences with those machines like common problems, durability, ink usage, print quality, running cost, reliability, power consumption, real # of prints and more.

Thanks and we will really appreciate all the info we can get :)

I'll just say this, if your currently getting items from an indigo and are wanting to keep the same quality, I think you'll be disappointed in these machines. It will be like going from driving a new Cadillac to a used Honda. They'll both get you there, but do it differently.

If you go the OKI route you will want to look at the 931e, the 911's consumables will cost you an arm and a leg. I just got in the 931e and so far the prints from it have been very good, I got it for an envelope printer so I haven't tried many different materials on it yet.

I would get in touch with all the big companies and let their sales teams work to show you why their machine is best. Run tests on the various models that are in your price range. We have done a lot of printing on demo machines before purchasing them from Xerox, they have been great with that and really makes buying that much more confident when I know how to operate the machine beforehand and have used it for actual live jobs.

What is the volume you would be printing daily/monthly?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm well aware that we will not get the same quality as HP Indigo, this machine is just too expensive for us and we're just printing around 10,000 prints per month (for now). Because of the distance 3rd party printing has really been a problem for us not just the added shipping cost but the delayed as well. Also we are planning to expand our services so we thought that it's about time we try printing in-house. The other thing that is confusing me is the different consumable pricing between the 2: In Fuji you just need to pay what you print (regardless if it's just a test print), while for Oki you pay the consumables and print all you want. I wonder which is more cheap model :-? Anyone has any experience with this?
