ECRM ScriptSetter1 Errors

The ScriptSetter1 is imaging with streaks as if the image is stuttering, or sticking before moving across the negative. I have attached the image so you can see, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to tell without looking at it with a loupe. Is the image shrunk? If it is, either the film drive or supply cassette are most likely the cause. If the image is not shrunk then it is probably the laser.

Thanks Bill,
The image hasn't shrunk, it is the normal size we print at. Did you get a chance to look at the images I put up?

Like i said it is hard to tell without looking at the film with a loupe. It is most likely a optics problem. In order of probability, it is the spinner motor, start of line sensor, and then the laser. How is the density of the film?

The density is very good still and it appears that the error is only aligned to the left of the page while the right is looking normal.

Most likely it is the spinner motor's encoder not reading correctly. At the start of the scan it is OK and the farther along it gets lost.

So Bill what can we do for this problem as we don't have a tech on hand here in the islands, what would you suggest?

Bill is their anyway I could get my hands on a manual or diagram as I need to have this done as I have another paper to get out on Thursday of this week. This is a matter of real urgency!!!!

Could you give me a name to contact to get this done, as like I told you I am in a real bind, as I have advertisers expecting to be published and customers waiting on me..

That's the "Jitter Effect" caused by beats at ball-bearings of Spinner Motor.
ScriptSetter is wery old imagesetter and has no encoder at Spinner Motor, just BOL sensor at a frame.
If you look at pictures attached - right side of lines (image) OK but left side is garbled.
That's the first indication of Jitter Effect.

Vlad,
Thanks for the update as I need to have this problem fixed immediately as I have to use it to output my newspaper for this week on Thursday.
What can I do to solve this problem? Can you help me out here, can do you have a diagram or schematics I could look at with some directions to work on this problem?

New Spinner is your remedy.
Only professional mechanics could replace broken bearings using special tools

Okay understand what you're saying about the Tech, but at this point I don't have the time or the money available to me so I am asking, do you have any manuals you could help me with to check the machine?

Never had manuals for that machine, sorry.
Just used my ECRM VR(L) models experience and common sense for my judgement.

I tried checking the Exposure setting on my ScripSetter1 and found that it was set at 31 so i raised it to the max and the image came out without the problem after running a test...
