Brilliant Graphics is a commercial printing company located outside of Philadelphia PA. We are an aggressive company with a highly unique understanding of how to take care of customers, and how to produce the highest quality work.
Currently, we are looking for an experienced detail oriented individual to join our team in our Estimating department. Only experienced print estimators will be considered for this position.
Job Summary:
The primary function of this position is to prepare competitive cost estimates for printing jobs by determining the most economical method of manufacture by balancing the production capacity and capabilities of the plant with the desires and requirements of the client.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Estimate the cost of materials, based on specifications from Sales Representatives by determining the quantity of materials required and including a suitable margin for spoilage; estimate the cost of processing in the Press, Bindery, Pre-press, and Shipping departments by estimating the amount of time required in each department and multiplying by predetermined standard cost figures.
• Determine the production centers and routing needed to produce the job as specified.
• Evaluate methods available for producing the job and select the plan which produces the highest quality job in the most economical way.
• Work with vendors to obtain best prices for supplies. Get quotes from a minimum of three vendors.
• Work with Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representatives in giving customer suggestions for improving quality and/or lowering the price of jobs.
• Use computer to prepare estimates.
• Develop knowledge of materials used, the best suppliers and competitive prices.
• Keep aware of price changes and competitive prices.
• Advise and guide customers when necessary as to specifications of a job (size or style of type, size of book, kind of binding, etc.)
Qualifications:
Prior experience at a commercial printer using computerized estimating systems a must. Do not apply if you do not have previous estimating experience.
• Solid working knowledge of printing and finishing processes, paper, ink, computer operation, the competitive market and purchasing
• Creative problem solving skills a must. The Planner/Estimator must regularly analyze customer needs, technical commercial printing constraints and company resources/capabilities then choose among several alternative courses of action to select best method
•Computer literacy
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions
• Above average math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
• Ability to work with abstract designs and create a rough “plan” for a job to be produced
• Multi-tasking skills required
• High school degree or equivalent professional experience required, college degree preferred.
