EVA Glue for Perfect Binding

Can anyone assist with EVA Perfect Binding. We have the BQ-270, but have issues with pages pulling out when we use gloss paper. Any suggestions? We use the Horizon glue (HM-221), it does seem brittle and when the books are opened it seems like it cracks at the spine. Don't really want to go for a PUR machine right now. Has anyone found a glue that may be a bit more flexible and sticks well to gloss paper. We understand the grain issues ect.

Steve. have you found a solution to your glue problem? We have a Horizon BQ-150 and we also use the HM-221 and our last books we did were a disaster. We use to have a small tabletop Horizon Bindfast and it did a much better job on our books. As we speak I am also looking for a new glue for our system.
