Full Bleed Color Tab

Local competition was able to do a full bleed color tab, all four edges. The actual size is 9x11, they did not cut into a standard tab, they did not die cut the tabs from standard 17" stock. They did hand trim the tops of the actual tab. Looks like that is the only piece that is trimmed. How was this done? Anyone have an idea and or know how to produce full bleed, 4/0, 5 bank tabs with a 24hour turnaround?

Thanks

Not without die cutting. How do you know they printed full bleed without diecutting? If you find out how they did it, keep us posted....

Hmm maybe they're referring to the bleed edge tab functionality in EFI's MicroPress? In version 8.0, they introduced this new feature. It basically prints fake 'tabs' on the sheet as close to the edge of the sheet as the printer will image. Since engines have an imageable area, you'd typically still need to trim off the edge of the sheet to remove the white margin from the printer.

That's the only explanation I can think of...
