is anyone running 4/c (acceptable) work on a pm 46-2? if so what platemaker are you using? i am looking for something entry level for doing flyers and such. i have had a pressman come and do 4/c on 135gsm gloss and the results were very acceptable. i have read that the colors are better to register on cardstock, but wonder how much a reliable machine is going to cost me? thanks, kristian.

the previous work was done with mitsubishi eco 2 poly plates

I've seen it done as a proof of concept with RipIT/Xante/Heidelberg polyester platesetter. This is the machine...
Xante: SpeedSetter 300 Heidelberg used to (still does?) sell this device under a different name with special functionality to make it work with their MetaDimension RIP.

It can be done but the question is why do it? There's almost no way that it is more economical to buy a CtP for a QM46-2 and run CMYK two-pass work through it instead of just buying a digital output device. The QM46-2's common blanket and lack register features make it even less ideal to print CMYK work on.
