Image/Ink optimizers

Currently there several good working ink optimizer programs available (Alwan, GMG, Kodak colorflow etc) but they are all either workflow based or very expensive.

Are there stand alone solutions available for a decent price that deliver the same results/quality?

For the cost of the software and the return on Investment I think they are pretty cheap anway.
GMG and Alwan to name but two, are standalone hotfolder based server solutions already

Are you looking to apply this to only raster images in native layouts, or complete PDF pages containing both vector/raster data?

Do you have a PDF workflow system?

Do you use Acrobat Pro and or PitStop Pro or PitStop Server?

Depending on your volume, the ROI on Alwan can be ridiculously short. I paid mine off in a bit under 60 days at a heat-set web shop. Alwan has some impressive new features.

Bodoni Systems has a similar product called InkWize.

You will have options available within your current workflow. I don't know of any workflows that cannot take advantage of device link profiles.

You can also make use of device link profiles with PitStop Pro and/or PitStop Server.

That is the key! It doesn't matter how much a system costs, i.e. that it's perceived as being "expensive" - it's the ROI that's important when looking at costs. If it costs 10K and pays for itself in 60 days then, after those 60 days, you're are adding 5K a month in direct profits.

It's a no-brainer purchase.
