Can anyone tell me where I can find software that will look at a PDF and give me ink key settings? I saw another printer using this years ago. For presses without auto ink setting fountains.
presspercent is one, link is below... I have not used it. We have heidelberg prepress interface connected to our presses. But this one looks like a better solution for you.

Ray, we currently use PressPercents with mixed results depending on whether the pressman sets sweeps consistently or not because it has no adjustment for sweeps. They recommend to set sweeps at some average setting like 50-60%, whatever the pressman would want to use, and run a calibration that will hopefully get you closer as long as the press is started up with those same sweeps, the program will adjust ink flow with changes in the amount the keys are open.
How does Ink Ready work? Does it also require the pressman set sweeps consistently and the keys settings adjust for the amount of ink required?
If the pressman starts up with different sweeps all the time depending on what he thinks is needed, as far as coverage, will Ink Ready, or any other presetting software, work in that case?
Probably clear as mud but maybe you can decipher what I mean?
InkReady will read a PDF, PS, TIFF, BMP... and based on press params (number of keys, graduation of levers, dot gain comp, etc,) will produce a report to set ink keys/fountains. You can go to our Web site to get a trial licence Loading dynamic Web site: Ultimate Technographics Inc. ...
