ISOcoated_v2_ECI vs CoatedFOGRA39

Both profiles are built from the Fogra39 data set. They have similar dmax and GCR settings (give or take a couple percent), so the real difference is the profile making software. It appears the ECI profile was made with Heidelberg software, and I believe Adobe cooks their own profiles.

Dear Bret,

Thank you for your input. But there is a question mark from my side as why there is 2 version of FOGRA 39 data set variation?

Regards,

Qoo

Adobe probably made their own profile for copyright/ distribution reasons, and because they can. ECI also has a second version of the profile with a 300% total ink. All of these profiles are made from the same fogra 39 data set.

@khun boy
welcome to the political side of colour management (color management)
ECI is european color initiative (note spell with color as in american spelling and not colour as european/international english).

Euroscale Coated v2 is as opposed to Euroscale Coated, the v2 being dotgain of 16% for K and 14% for CMY (ISO Curve for linear plate in a "standard" press) and the original Euroscale being about 23% dotgain (Linear filmand negative acting film)
Standardisation is a long road, and there have been leaps of progress, but it takes time. Ten years ago many were saying it is a dream, today there is a consensus that colour can be managed successfully. There is a convergence of standards, we will get there, give it another year or two ;)
In the US there is a demand for backward compatibility, which is why i.m.h.o. the change is slower.

Thank you and Sincere

Difference countries then difference generate icc profiles
but all countries used same standard characterize data. I guest.
ISO success with same characterize data not same icc profiles

Question;
I get file with ISOcoated_v2_ECI and I get file with CoatedFOGRA39.
How can I solve press control 2 icc profile with single imposition?

I think RGB Work flow can solve problem.

But photographer expert color correction with CMYK and GAMMA monitor and believe with color info
My press room need wet proof more than digital proof. :(

Reality human skill in Thailand printing.

Regards.

I would personally recommend colour correction to occur in RGB.
Also I believe it is best to set CMYK profile as rendering intent to prevent unwanted colour conversion.
Between ISOcoated v2 ECI and CoatedFOGRA39 you do not need to convert. If you need all to have one profile assigning between the two should be sufficient (else you risk black being converted which will give you problems). US standards are a bigger deviation.

If you need to convert CMYK to CMYK you should study to learn more about DEVICE LINK profile or INK SAVE technology, where the intention is to maintain the same colours but resperate so that the images are more stable in printing production (and also use less ink thus also solving a few ink related issues)

Thank very much for explain me

US standards are a bigger deviation.

I think so,
and I think trends with ASIAN standard be going to ISO standard soon. I hope that.

In Thailand, Advertise pages keep color character with personal prepress icc profile not standard profile. Because them keep marketing. Directly from master prepress.

We don't have organization or group of experts.
We debate with standard, but master of prepress, he don't care. He say "My Ad. My Profile"

Very sad for me :(

Thank you again and sorry with my English.

The G7 manuals are very good and could be used in any country. They are very clear on how to calibrate, and are compatible with ISO/European methodology. If there are no experts maybe now is the time to become that expert yourself ;)
It is as easy to target an ISO standard as to target a "private" standard, and the benifits are so much there is really no reason not to.
