J75 "Production Mode"

Why do they have a production mode that gives you full speed on all media? Why isn't this the only mode? Is there some downside to it?

Xerox has had this mode for a lot of their production color printers. The way in normally works is that with the production mode it will run your 300gsm at full rated speed all day long but if you have a mixed weights run it will take forever and a day to heat/cool the fuser between your 300gsm cover and 120gsm body. The alternative to production mode is usually a mixed weights mode which will run a little slower in general but the long heat/cooling between paper switches are removed.

In the past the quality also would be reduced on the production mode but I don't believe that has been an issue with the new boxes.

How it works on the J75 might be different then what I described.

Thanks for that information. It surprises me that Xerox doesn't give a similar explanation in their CED or on their website.

But then you would be able to make an informed decision about your purchase and not rely solely on what your sales person tells you....
