KM1 Inkjet Imposition

We just purchased a KM1 inkjet press.
I was surprised that they are saying it has no imposition software?
What is the best way to go about laying out a job, say a 16 page 8.5X11 book.
We were using XMF to create imposition for our plates to run our 40" press.
Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Greg

Hi,
as far as I know you should be able to export an imposed pdf from XMF and throw it into KM1 Rip.
Not having an imposition is quite popular nowadays, so you can integrate it into your workflow without limits.

Might be interesting for you!

and this one from a KM1 user

Do you know of any special settings I might need to create that impoed PDF?

I agree with Gianni, export from XMF. Make sure the colour profile from XMF matches the KM, if the KM has in-rip trapping, strip the traps out on XMF, otherwise leave the file trapped. Other settings depend on how the KM Rip handles your files.
We process everything, both offset and digital through Prinergy, we don't use Digital Direct as it doesn't appear to support our machines, so we just export imposed PDFs. This also makes it very easy to re-purpose jobs for offset when required.

Check out Tilia Labs (www.tilialabs.com) imposition product — tilia Phoenix. We have had many customers who have recently purchased KM1’s move to our product to dynamically gang and optimize the larger sheet of the KM1 without needing to build imposition templates for every job 🙌.
