Kodak P080 Emulsion defect

Howdy all. We are encountering a problem which we initially thought was a scratching issue with the P080 plate. Instead it appears to be a problem with the emulsion of the plate. You can actually see the defect prior to imaging. It varies in length but it always appears in the same area on the same side of the plate.
The mark is in a diagonal direction.
I have seen some fairly funky things with the emulsion of this plate in the past but they were much less frequent than this issue. The plate has been really reliable in terms of it's printing characteristics but this new problem is bothersome.
I suspect that I will get a response from the manufacturer that will be more about spin and less about fact.
Anyone else seeing this defect?
Be well.

We've seen emulsion defects in the past with the PTP and P80 plates...usually limited to only a portion of a box of plates, or to a particular lot number. Hasn't come up in a while, and was never a huge problem. We simply set the plates aside and asked for a credit back for them (which I believe we received).

Speaking from the manufacturing side and placing all spin aside “Defects happen”.

With that, it is very important for us to know when, how and where these issues occurred. As Meddington has said I would ask that you set the plates aside and contact your local Kodak Sales Representative or Printing Applications Specialist (PAS) immediately. They will begin a Product Investigation Report (PIR) that will capture your dissatisfaction along with samples of the defect and submit to manufacturing for evaluation and corrective action. In the mean time we can insure replacement of the defective product and make sure you are using the highest quality material for your daily operational needs.

I can not stress how important it is for our customers to notify us when these issues occur. We can not fix that witch we are not aware of. If you continue to have further issues, or the response does not fit your expectations, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected].

Thanks Meddington and Bigger,
I have indeed notified my rep. The lack of an answer as of yet led to this post. I have learned thus far the more information one can obtain the better.
I appreciate the input.
