Kodak pandora

Anyone have any insight on Kodak Pandora's Step and Repeat Software? I have an issue with this program whereby if I drop my PDF into my hot folder of my RIP, the colors separate perfectly, with no image loss.

When opening Pandora, importing the PDF (as mentioned above) onto my worksheet, adding marks, etc, I then save (print) the PDF. I then drop this saved PDF into the hotfolder but when the colors are separated images are missing from the file.

Anyone else had this problem?

Have you contacted the Kodak Response Center to provide them with the problem file?
They can troubleshoot, and if necessary involve product development to investigate the issue.

Of course. And can you believe that a program you pay $10,000 for only has 90 days of support. So if I want to ask the question, it's $3.50/minute, 30 minute minimum. That's why I came here.

Images dropping from PDF on output is a very serious problem and something we would definately need to investigate to prevent happening in the future. In a JDF or Prinergy workflow, this would not happen, as we do not make changes to PDFs usually, but in the case of PDF to PDF, we do have to do some color conversion to allow users to map separations to each other. This means that in a PDF to PDF workflow, there is some small chance of change in the output which is unavoidable.

The only similiar case I can think of happened in 2.9.5 where the PDF contained an Indexed color image with an alternate color space other than RGB. Adobe fairly recently introduced the idea of Indexed color spaces with multiple definitions (orginially Indexed color images were always based on RGB, but now they can be based on others). Pandora has never supported Indexed color, and the problem was that our normal way of warning the user that we had detected an Indexed color image was broken by the change in the Indexed color space format.

If you can, check the placed images and make sure they are in a color space appropriate for your output; Grayscale or CMYK usually.

If you'd like, feel free to contact me, either here or through my email in my profile.
