Koenig & Bauer & Durst Phototechnik are pooling their strengths in a 50/50 joint venture focusing on digital printing solutions for the corrugated & folding carton markets.
The joint venture is to be based in Germany and responsible for development, integration, manufacturing & worldwide distribution of water-based, single-pass digital printing presses for folding carton & corrugated board. Ink & service will be sold jointly through the global networks of the 2-parent companies.
The modular VariJET will combine digital inkjet with the printing & inline finishing capabilities of the offset process for folding carton printing. Their first milestone is to begin manufacturing in time for drupa 2020.
