Konica Minolta c6500 Power Problem??? (Help Needed)

So, I have gone through thousands of dollars of write units, boards, you name it. My Bizhub c6500 keeps going offline for one reason or another and my tech claims its related to power in the building. Because of other power concerns I have heard from tenants in the building, I tend to agree.

My primary question is.. what the HECK do I do? I have looked on the internet and can't seem to find a 208/240v UPS of any kind that is rated for use in the US unless I spend 5 or 10 thousand dollars. I can replace the printer for that.

I have a UPS on the Fiery, as it is 110, but, any thoughts on how to affordably keep power regulated from surges AND from drops on the c6500?

Or, if you think my problem is something else, I'd be happy listen to that too. I have replaced one write unit and to controller boards (that control the turning of the fuser, etc) and one upper fusing unit all because of electrical or mechanical failure of some kind. Now, my fiery seems to have crashed after trying to reboot (could be a different problem.)

We've only run about 100k clicks on it and its rated for MUCH more than that.

Any ideas or criticisms appreciated.

Thanks,

Instead of putting a UPS on it I'm sure you can find a stabilizer at a much cheaper rate.

Gus,

Thanks for the reply. Can you be a little more specific? Maybe a link to something similar online so I know what I am looking for? I googled 240v power stabilizer and I am not seeing anything pop up, off hand, that I think is appropriate.

Thanks,

I don't think it's a UPS you want. Sounds like you may need a line conditioner/voltage regulator.

I am the purchasing manager for an independent Konica Minolta dealer. We use the ESP brand of power filters on all our machines.

Filters differ from surge protectors because they deal with the "dirty" power typically found in office environments - all those small daily power spikes and drop-outs that you probably don't notice but your sensitive electronics do (causes can be simple things like turning on fluorescent lights, your AC kicks in, using your coffee pot or the microwave, etc.). If you've ever lived in an older home and your lights slightly dim when your refrigerator compressor turns on, you've experienced it.

ESP's website is here ESP USA > Our Solutions,
but your dealer also can purchase ESP products through Konica (tell them to look under Application Solutions on Konica's dealer website). They aren't cheap, but they are cheap insurance especially after what you've just gone through.

Power Issue

Power Issue

We went through the same issues with a press. We ended buying a transformer and installing a sub panel. We ened being able to create conditioned pure power and have left over for later use

Power Issue

In addition to a ESP power filter/surge protector, we had an electrician install a transformer on the wall next to our c6501. Specifically, it is a Hammond Power Solution Dry Type Isolation/Buck Boost Transformer, 50/60 Hz, HV 120v x 240v. We've had power issues as well and this is a little added insurance.

We also use the ESP power filter/surge protector on our 65C works fine we also had an isolated AC line put in for the machine no other equipment is on this line.

Power Problem

We added a 45 KVA transformer for a GTOV. Since power coming in to the building slid to low at times this gave us pure voltage with no change 24 hours a day. It was run on it's own sub panel so on off power spikes of other machine drawing on power would not be a factor. They recomended against a line boost style of transformer as they can still have power spikes.

We are using ESP on both our C6500 and our C8000 and they did not cost anywhere near what you are sugesting realpowerprotection.com

Get your power checked

Get your power checked

You need to get a third party line monitoring company in to monitor the power and tell you what is wrong. You could spend thousands of dollars on a transformer or filter etc, when all you might need is the ground to your building tightened down. There are several different ones but I reccomend RX Monitoring. You will have to google them. They send you the box, you or your electrician hook it up, leave it on for a week, and send it back. They send you a report with everything that is wrong and have specialists available to discuss the findings with you or your electrician. after you fix the building you may still need a filter or transformer but you probably don't.
Good Luck!
