Making a Creo Proofsetter work with Fuji Finalproof films....

Hi! we are in a big problem here.... like most of you know Kodak discontinued the film for there proofing system. But we herd that we could use Fuji films to put in are machine instead... that was 8 months ago. Now we got told that we need also to upgrade are Creo with new hardware so it could work properly.

Now the Fuji film dosent imaged properly, we need a solution or someone with those parts!

here is are machine:

Creo Trendsetter plate system with spectrum proof system with a 8up carrier.

Please help! we gat alot of Fuji film sleeping that we cant use...

Fuji spectrum media is thinner, more sensitive to static and dust. The modifications for Fuji media were basically another cleaning roller and unload tray.
It also uses different carriers and the sheets in the cassette. All these changes refer to load/unload sequences.
Now - if you may still be able to load and unload it ok even without the hardware modifications but you definitely cannot use the same laser settings that you used for kodak or dupont. You need someone to setup your imaging settings correctly which is a more difficult task than on a regular plate, and I'm not sure if all the effort would be justified.
Spectrum was used for contract proofs (produced by the same laser as the actual plate) that nobody that I know about is using today. For high quality artwork there are much cheaper options out there. If your machine is a Proofsetter you have the option to transform it in a regular Trendsetter and use it for plates.

Thanks for your response, with some research we found out about the hardware needed for the Fuji film, we also discover that those parts where out of stock from Kodak. Or Creo does load and eject the films, but like you said theres a issue with the laser.

As for changing are technology, we know that ink jets could do the job but the thing is we are not doing regular offset printing ; ) we are in the lenticular printing business and are Creo has some custom parameters that cant be reproduce with a Inkjet machine (not anof resolution available). We need at least 4800dpi, thing that the Creo gives us. If you have any ideas you are more than welcome to reach us. We are doing a contract that justifies the use of that machine.

Would you be able to help us finding those parts? we also do plates with the same Creo... thats a other variable to consider...

If your machine loads and unloads the Fuji media ok you will just need the imaging settings to be adjusted. You just have to realize the risk and cost of media lost due to load/unload jams or eventual hotspots due to dust.
For the laser setup you can find an independent technician or call Kodak for support - they may be able to do it remotely.
