Need help optimizing jobs with tabs and mixed media and mixed colors on Ricoh C9500

We are having a great deal of issues with printing jobs with tabs, diffent color sheets and a mixture of greyscale sheets and CMYK sheets. The equipment is rated for 135 pages per minute. When we print this type of job we are seeing speeds as low as 16 pages per minute. This job has 19 tabs. The machine slows down between text sheets and tabs. Any tricks or tips would be appreciated.

Printing on Mixed media weights will do that. On my machine I will preprint inserts, then collate them into the job using the post fuser trays.

Also setting the paper weights as similar as possible should help.

A couple of things you can do to help speed things up:
1. In Adjustment Settings for Operators look at 0402 in Machine Productivity and change it to Productivity mode. This will allow paper to feed before the fuser is up or down to the specified temperature for that stock. Just make sure your proof print still has good toner adhesion.
2. An unsupported solution that a lot of people use is to lie to the machine about what the paper weight is, in one direction or another. I'd recommend not going more than one level up or down.

I've got this figured out on my C5310 but the process is similar for the 9200.

I went from a 14 second delay on duplex (7 seconds before and 7 seconds after inserting a tab) down to zero delay before insertion and 3.7 seconds delay after insertion running duplex sheets with tabs. When running simplex sheets with tabs there is zero noticeable delay. This is way faster than even the specialists at Ricoh hq were able to demo to me.

I detailed it all in this thread:

You can thank me later
