Boasting increased handling to 470gsm

Interesting, not a fan of the user screens on the 7200, will be interested to see how that changes in the 7500. I would also be interested in adding a voice recognition system to it so you can do voice commands like "Ricoh switch paper to # 25 in tray 3" while doing a changeout.

I'm curious how they are getting it to handle 470 gsm. That paper path doesn't seem long enough, like on the c9200 series. Best I could get our old c7110 was to around 360gsm. Although maybe it's just 470 gsm, simplex and not duplex. Either way, would be nice to see it in action.

We frequently run 20pt plastic through our 72xx machines. I am not sure of the gsm, but it handles it well.

That's a nifty idea!

What kind of plastic do you run?
PVC sheets.

We run discount and ID cards as well as menus.

We also got adventurous and bought a roll of 30 pt PVC for our Epson 40600 solvent printer. I can’t believe how durable the ink is using the Epson.

I am holding off on getting a 7500 till after PU, I want to see this new cutsheet inkjet that Canon is teasing about releasing there.

Canon rep was mum about details on it so I don't have any links. I am sure they will release something right before PU.

I get the same, no real info, sales pitch. New low cost inkjet will print on everything fast and cheap. ... still waiting to see it!

Interesting. The lease on our 7210x is up early next year. I will be interested in what Canon releases.

Just like computers got faster and cheaper the same will be for inkjets. Once they figure out the printing on Coated materials it will be game on. Being able to print edge to edge on cutsheet will make things interesting just like it did for envelopes. Not having to upsize some sheet sizes will be awesome, especially 8.5x11.
