offset sealer?????

Halo!

Anybody knows what ''offset sealer'' is?

First i thought it was an elegant way to say varnish,but then lower in the job specs, varnish was described as ''varnish'' so the sealer must be something else!

Have a look if you please...

Matt paper 115 gs
Cover: 4 pages 4+4 colors + offset varnish
Matt paper 200 gsm
Finishing: sew binding

Aqueous Coating maybe

You must be right,in our language aqueous coating is called like ''water varnish'' and considered as varnish.

I would guess the job calls for a spot varnish and aqueous. If so the varnish will have to be a strike through

An offset sealer would be one applied via a duct. Printed by rollers printing plate and blanket. Hence the term'offset' these can also be varnishes gloss or Matt.

could mean both things, i would just quote with a satin machine varnish, 50/50 gloss and matt. I have only seen "machine" or "aqueous", to me, that quote request is just machine varnish, when i see sealer, it means just a conventional varnish.
