Who can explain to me why an object, created in illustrator, 100K, placed over a cyan circle, knocks out in separations preview in Illustrator, and when placed into Indd. The SAME objects, copied and placed into Indesign, overprints in the output preview dialogue, with no attributes manually attached? Using CC2015

Please post the "offending" .AI file so that we can replicate what you are referring to. Note that "copy and paste" is not considered a reliable workflow method when dealing with these graphic arts programs.

InDesign has a preference setting to "Overprint [Black] Swatch at 100%." (in Preferences under the Appearance of Black section.) If it is clicked on, that is why a 100% Black item overprints in your InDesign file. Copying/pasting into ID essentially turns the item into an ID element.

Keep in mind that your print vendor's RIP settings might be set to override any overprints you may set (for instance, at my shop we overprint all black by default, no matter what it's set at by the designer. If there are specific areas that we wouldn't want to overprint, we intervene and re-rip that page to do what we think is best.) As with your other post regarding trapping, be sure you clearly communicate your expectations to your vendor.

This is the answer... Uncheck this in prefs and your problem will go away!
