Yeah, I never used auto-activation with Suitcase, or FEX for that matter. It's fine if you always are working with your own set of fonts, but we work with customer-supplied fonts, so you have to make sure the supplied fonts are what gets activated.
These days I am loving how InDesign will temporarily load its own fonts as long as they are in a folder called "Document fonts" and that folder lives in the same directory as the ID file. Works great 98% of the time.
