Polar Guillotine cuts without using foot pedal

We have a Polar Guillotine 115EM which cuts just by pressing the 2 hand buttons. You don't need to press the foot pedal.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Sounds like a lazy cutter operator bypassed a sensor of some sort...

Nothing wrong. The foot pedal is for the clamp. The clamp should still come down before the blade even if you don't use the pedal. Kind of a dumb way to cut though because you should visually see that the clamp is down in the right spot & pressure is good before pressing the blade buttons.

Yes, sounds normal to me. Every Polar I've used has been like this.

Yup both of ours do this too, nothing wrong.. dumb way to cut as said earlier, but its okay

Modern day power cutters work that way. Even the low cost triumphs.
