Morning everyone,

What are your views on how is our industry evolving in the Pre press department, now a days with MIS and custom MIS systems integrated in our workflows should the Pre press operator be integrate more with sales ? is his job evolving more to a technical administrator rather than operator ? what are the benefits and what are your views ?

Wishing you all a good day,

I think that Prepress operators will go in two directions:

1. Workflow specialist and optimizer (automation)
2. Media Output Operator (different media not just print)

Best regards,

Not everything can be automated, there are defiantly still room for a skilled operator in the process.
And I don't believe that a general media output operator can require the skills needed for both digital media and all the different printing technologies.
Today you can't even get an offset operator to retouch an image for flexo..
